General Manager

 

Reporting to our President & CEO, we are looking for a General Manager to lead our statewide operations in equipment sales, rentals, parts and service.

As General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring we deliver on that promise to Hawaii’s construction, agriculture, infrastructure, and industrial industries. This role is about more than managing performance; it’s about inspiring teams, strengthening customer and vendor relationships, and driving growth that supports communities across all islands.

Purpose of the Role

The General Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for Bacon Universal across all business units. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this role is responsible for sustainable growth, operational excellence, and maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and communities.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or an industry-related field (MBA preferred).

Experience

  • 7-10 years of senior leadership experience in equipment dealerships, distribution, or related industries.
  • 5 years direct selling to end user customers in retail environment.
  • Proven track record managing multi-branch or multi-island operations.
  • Strong background in B2B and B2C equipment, sales, rental, and after-sales support.

Knowledge

  • Heavy equipment, agricultural machinery, and rental industry knowledge.
  • Strong financial management and P&L oversight.
  • Familiarity with Hawaii’s regulatory, environmental, and business environment.
  • Understanding of supply chain and logistics challenges unique to the island operations.

Strategy & Leadership:

  • Develop and implement Bacon Universal’s strategic business plan aligned with the ethos of serving every project, every island.
  • Lead and inspire teams to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, customer service, and community engagement.

Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily operations across sales, rental, parts, and service, ensuring efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Manage multi-island resources, inventory, and logistics effectively.

Financial Management:

  • Full responsibility for financial performance, profitability, and growth.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Review capital investments to ensure strong returns and long-term growth.

Customer & Supplier Relationships:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Hawaii’s contractors, agricultural businesses, and public agencies.
  • Strengthen long-term partnerships with OEMs and suppliers.
  • Represent Bacon Universal in industry associations, trade shows, and community initiatives across all islands.

People & Team Development:

  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent.
  • Implement succession planning, training, and leadership development programs.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance across all islands.
