For asphalt and paving contractors, maximizing efficiency is key. With this in mind, SAKAI is transforming the way paving professionals work with their innovative combination rollers – or “combi-rollers”.
A combi-roller combines a front vibratory drum with rear pneumatic tires, allowing it to perform both initial compaction and final surface finishing in a single pass. The result is a smoother, denser asphalt surface, achieved with fewer machines and less time on the job. For paving contractors working on Hawai'i’s roads, parking lots, and residential projects, the combi-roller offers a practical solution that improves efficiency without compromising quality.
SAKAI offers two combi-roller models: the TW354 and TW504, both available in Hawai'i from SAKAI’s official dealer, Bacon Universal.
The 3-ton SAKAI TW354 is designed for small to medium paving jobs such as driveways, parking lots, bike paths, and municipal roads. Its front vibrating drum achieves initial density, while the rear pneumatic tires provide a kneading effect that seals the surface for a tight, uniform finish. Operators will find the TW354 straightforward to use, with reliable switches and knobs in place of complex touchscreens, along with clear visibility and a robust, triple-filtered spray system that keeps water flowing consistently during operation.
For larger or more demanding projects, the SAKAI TW504 steps up the power. This 4-ton-class combi-roller features a 51-inch vibratory drum and wide pneumatic tires that work together to compact and finish asphalt in a single, efficient pass. Its two-stage compaction process achieves both optimal density and a smooth, sealed surface, making it ideal for parking lots, subdivision streets, and municipal paving work. The TW504’s robust, triple-filtered spray system with all-metal nozzles ensures consistent water flow, while its separate release agent system helps prevent pickup. Like all SAKAI equipment, it’s built for reliability, with simple, proven controls and heavy-duty construction backed by an industry-leading three-year, 3,000-hour warranty.
Combi-rollers like the TW354 and TW504 represent a new level of efficiency for Hawai'i’s paving professionals. By combining two machines into one, contractors can save time and resources while producing a smooth, professional asphalt mat that stands up to local conditions.
